In this exhibition, a collective of artists decided to fill a given space, following parameters of their own discretion. The media the artists used had a wide variety but they were all akin in their mathematical, repetitious nature. These artists used patterns and scales to ask their audience to reconsider how they view their spaces. These works are quite decorative in nature, creating visually stunning displays. These works collectively attempt to blur the lines between illusion and reality. The patterns evoke tradition, but the bold shapes and large scale bring in more modern sensibilities with filling spaces, not only volume wise but also in a cohesive manner that can be easily labeled.
Pattern: Follow the Rules
Thread 1: He views drawing as an act of transcribing. Making the artist mearly a vessel through which art announces itself. Drawing and maintaining the drawing in other media is a big focus for him

Thread 2: He views the human form as a cell in both the prison and biological sense. This appeals to me because I tend to think of the human body as a temporary vessel, it's less of a jail cell and more of a container. He also considers how our attitudes, socio-economic standing, our biology and pscycology all act as cells. We are confined to our own POV. This really fascinates me because to me it rings quite true but I feel that honest awareness of the cell, in it's own right can allow some freedom.

Thread 3: his Proposition Player project was particularly interesting to me and I think relates the most closely with what I'm thinking about and trying to do. "There is no story in a pack of cards, but you can tell any story you want."
That quote in particular really struck me because I have began to study Tarot and learning how to read tarot cards. These cards in themselves do contain magical properties and they reveal a story to the querent. They answer your questions, explain your future, and in my experience they are never wrong, it may just be a harsh message that the querent isn't ready to hear. He brings up the aces of the deck, in Tarot the aces are very important cards that can indicate a positive result/ direction. It can also be a new beginging.
